Description

Image

This project consists of two complementary parts, experiment and simulation, to advance basic understanding, scaling, and control of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) processes on light metal substrates. The experimental part focuses on diagnostics analysis and scaling of the process, advanced process control schemes, and utilization of complex substrate materials, such as industrially relevant light metal alloys. The simulation part aims at accurate modelling of the plasma-chemical kinetics of the process, including influences of electrolyte and substrate, selected optical emission lines, and coating growth. The chemical kinetics model is also applied to similar processes, such as plasma electrolysis (PE).
